Taoyuan has fewer international schools than Taipei, and for a family in Luzhu, Zhongli, or Guishan the practical shortlist reaches across the city line into Linkou, where two more sit on the Airport MRT within easy reach. Taken together, that is four English-medium, American-curriculum schools worth a Taoyuan family's attention.
What sorts them first is not curriculum or fees. It is eligibility. Two of the four are foreign schools that require a foreign passport, so a family holding only ROC nationality cannot enroll, whatever the fit. The other two are Taiwanese institutions, one an experimental education academy and one a private bilingual school, that admit local nationals. A family's passports decide which half of this page is open to them, and that is the question to settle before any other.

The two foreign schools, TYAS and AAIA, admit only foreign-passport holders, so a family with only ROC nationality is not eligible at either. The two Taiwanese schools, Yoder as an experimental education institute and Kang Chiao as a private bilingual school, admit local nationals. AAIA states its foreign-nationality requirement on its own admissions page. Kang Chiao, as a Taiwanese private school, enrolls Taiwanese families as its main intake. Taoyuan families come to us with a question that is half about the map. A foreign-passport family near the airport weighs TYAS against AAIA and the Linkou schools, trading a few minutes of commute against school size and character. A Taiwanese family, closed out of the foreign schools, weighs Yoder against Kang Chiao and the pull of Taipei's larger options an MRT ride away.
